ALUMINUM FLUIDYNE RADIATOR REVIEW

I noticed that mine was leaking underneath at the end of last year. It's starting to sound like it will be easier to have someone in the city fix it for me. That's shitty luck. Maybe the quality has dropped off.

I installed the radiator on my car, filled it with Toyota OEM red coolant. Everything seemed to be perfect. I haven't driven my car at all since the install, only started it up once a week and ran the engine at idle.

I noticed a coolant leak developing underneath the car and I couldn't figure out what the problem was. Today, I raised the car up to try and spot the source of the leak, and to my worst fear, the leak is coming from about three or four points directly from the welds on the bottom end tank. I'm hoping Fluidyne takes care of this. Thankfully it's got a one year warranty and I really hope the replacement part is of better quality. After all, you expect it to be pretty solid since it costs considerably more than most competitor radiators.

Well I installed a Fluidyne radiator yesterday........It was a simple install, just did a little bit of fabrication.......but all in all a real clean install.

Fluidyne radiators aren't very well designed. They didn't think anybody with a street car would want one, so they designed it around race cars.

I recently bought a Fluidyne full size radiator for my 91 CRX Si and was pretty disappointed. Would have been much better off buying a OEM replacement from Autozone.

As an owner of a large 4 stroke KTM I fall victim to overheating in tight trails. The slower, gnarly the trail the more my bike will boil. KTM’s are made for riding, not tea. I tried the fan kit but it would just drain my battery. I wanted something more foolproof. Gnarly Parts got in there shipment of Fluidyne Oversize Radiators. I search through the box and found one for my 530 xcw. My first impression is these things are impressive. All TIG welded and really nicely made. The radiators claim an incredible 40% increase in cooling surface. I have no way to prove this but they are way deeper and hold more coolant.

PROS: Oversize for better cooling
TIG welding for strength
Really works on bikes that need it

CONS:
Expensive
Limited aftermarket protection made
If your bike doesn’t overheat now this won’t help

Of all the radiators I’ve been researching this one seemed to have good reviews. I’ve heard a lot about them. I bought mine about a month ago. More expensive than I was hoping. We’ll see how it turns out. The shipping and packaging was fine, welds are good, install was good. The construction seems a little weaker than I was expecting and I ran it and didn’t see a big difference but I’ll come back and update after I’ve used it more.

Let me say first that I’ve been using Fluidyne radiators for a while now… I put one in my ‘03 Cobra a few years ago and was always happy with it. Because of that experience, when it came time to upgrade the cooling system on my ’98 Viper I just went right for another Fluidyne. The best price I could find was $698 shipped, so not cheap at all, but I was willing to invest in it. It didn’t take long to arrive, but when it did I was surprised to see that the quality of the new radiator just did not match the quality of the one in my Cobra. The finish wasn’t as nice and the welds were pretty sloppy, so it seems like things might have changed a bit with the company since I last purchased from them. I did some reading online to see reviews on Fluidyne and it seems like in the past year or two their quality has gone down unfortunately and some people have had fitment issues as well. I should have done my research ahead of time but live and learn I guess. I’m sure the radiator would have still done the job but I really just wasn’t impressed with the quality or the idea of any fitment issues so I just opted to send it back to the company I got it from and exchange it for a Be Cool radiator instead which I have been very happy with.

Overall I can’t recommend current Fluidyne radiators based on this experience, but hopefully they’ll get back to what they were years ago.

Pretty happy with my Fluidyne radiator. If you’re looking to buy one it wouldn’t be my first recommendation but It’s not a bad choice either. Like everything there are positives and negatives, positive aspects being it’s a pretty good radiator and known brand. Negatives are the price –more expensive. I like it a lot but I don’t think it’s all that better than any of the cheaper ones ive seen. I know Mishimoto has a lot of the same ones and they have a pretty good reputation, and definitely less expensive. But overall mine’s held up pretty good.

I found a leak in my Fluidyne radiator (for my 99 Eclipse GSX) a few days over their one year warranty policy coverage, so I was out of luck. Considering the price, I was disappointed when I had to buy a new radiator with only a little over 12k on the rad. The radiator itself looked great and I had no problems with cooling or fitment but I won’t be purchasing from them again.

I sometimes auto-X my Honda for fun. One day I had it at an event and yea, it kept my car cool but after my 2nd heat I noticed there was some coolant pooled under my car. Fluidyne wouldn’t cover it. I guess I didn’t read closely enough in the warranty policy because: “If the aftermarket radiator is used in any racing application this limited warranty is considered null and void.” I think it’s odd that they are selling a line of radiators under the category of “Racing” but racing voids your warranty. I won’t be purchasing from them again. I think they are defeating the purpose of buying “high” performance parts for your PERFORMANCE car if you can’t use your car as intended.
