ALUMINUM AFCO RADIATOR REVIEW

I installed an Afco radiator in my 68RS. I got my from Racemart . It is 26 X 19. I had a buddy weld some brackets on it. I installed it, then had a problem fitting a lower hose since the outlet is pointing upwards. I sawed it off and had it welded on straight. I ended up using a stock upper hose from a 68 and a stock lower hose from a 69 since I have a long water pump, they fit great. I also use the stock shoud for a small block wit A/C. I really like it.

I got my new Afco couple days ago and like we expected no fittings came with it. But I just took it to a local shop called Tompkins they sell all sorts of hydraulic hoses, fitting, connectors ect. ect. I picked up both fittings for $5 and they work perfect! They are brass so they arent as pretty as the anodized aluminum ones but they also didnt cost me $75.........Also once the hoses are plugged in you dont really see much of the fitting anyways. Mine did come with tabs on it to mount a screen too if you wanted to....... So if somebody is wanting a Afco radiator you can get a brand new one from summit racing $342 shipped and then find your own fittings and still be under $350 for a top of the line radiator.

If you want a nice aluminum radiator that looks good and does its job, go with Afco. If you want a racing radiator to make your car more efficient and noticeably improve cooling you might want to look for something else. I’m not saying it’s bad but I just don’t see the point in spending that much money on it when it didn’t change anything. There are cheaper ones out there that I’m sure would do what this does and save you money. Regardless, mine does look good and does its job well. I am happy with it. I just wonder if it was worth it.

Afco radiators look great. Mine was packaged nicely and shipped fast. I didn’t really have any fitment issues. It wasn’t exactly perfect but it didn’t cause me too much trouble. I can’t wait to actually put it to the test next weekend when I go racing. When I see the temperature numbers I’ll make up my mind but for now I’m happy with it!

These really aren’t the best radiators out there. I’ve done installs on my own cars and helped some friends with their radiators and these are not my favorite to do. The one I remember specifically, the radiator tabs for stays did not line up to stock stay locations. Other than that they look fine and I’m sure they run fine but I guess it depends what you care more about. I can’t recommend them.

I just moved recently and the winters here (Michigan) are soooo cold. I hate it because I had to buy a new rad to replace mine. I really hate it. Not only do I have to take off all the carbon fiber on my car to protect it, but now the weather made my old stock radiator hoses crack and start leaking. Anyway, I bought this Afco radiator from a friend as a replacement and it’s good. Looks smooth, all aluminum, no epoxy. There’s no way I would have bought it at regular price but for the price I paid for it I’m happy. I’m hoping this one will last longer than my old one now.

I bought an Afco radiator for my ’92 Mustang and it looked incredible. It was a great upgrade, but I have to buy another one now because something somewhere went wrong. What I think happened is a stick came up and gouged a hole into the radiator when I was driving down to my in-laws’ for the weekend and I never even realized. There was a bad storm that weekend and the roads were a mess. I can’t believe that’s what happened but when I went to leave Sunday night I came out and found a puddle underneath my car. So I’ve just been looking through reviews and trying to find another one with a better price because I didn’t plan on having to get another one so soon.

I just did an install on one of these last week on a friend’s 94 Mustang and its pretty good. The website says true bolt in fit which I’d take with a grain of salt. It wasn’t the easiest one ive ever done but I didn’t have any big problems. If youre looking for that smoother look I’d go with it. It is brazed (no epoxy) and cheaper than griffin. But still pretty pricey. I probably wouldn’t get it for myself but my friend hasn’t had any issues with it and like I said it was pretty nice.

Bought an Afco radiator a while back and I’m pretty happy with it. I ran it for a significant amount of time and it made everything more efficient. Installation took about two hours, and I didn’t need to modify too much. Not cheap but that’s expected I guess.

I think these radiators are for people who want to be flashy and spend big money with not a lot to show for it. I wouldn’t waste my money on it. These things are shiny and probably look nice under the hood but I’ve heard about them leaking later on so is it really worth it? You can get something just as good or better for half the price. Don’t get me wrong they are nice but not the best.
